The crew

Mac, five captains, the mates and the jet ski guides

Founder Mac (David McFadden) first came to Key West as a University of Miami student in 1975 and kept coming back. Six Fins now runs out of the Perry Hotel & Marina on Stock Island.

The crew is five USCG-licensed boat captains, their mates, and FWC-permitted jet ski guides led by head guide Nacho, all year-round locals. Every boat charter is private; Six Fins does not put strangers on the same boat.

The long day

A private day to the Marquesas Keys

The Marquesas are a ring of mangrove islands west of Key West, inside the Key West National Wildlife Refuge. Six Fins runs a private eight- or ten-hour day out there on the Jeanneau.

It's the longest trip they sell and the one that gets you farthest from the Key West crowds.

Standard charters run on the Jeanneau for one to six guests. Some non-fishing trips can take seven or eight under a separate bareboat arrangement with extra charges; ask Six Fins. For bigger parties they also book tiki boats and partner yachts by phone.

Water toys come aboard standard Jeanneau charters. Perry pool and gym access is complimentary on eligible Perry departures, subject to hotel rules and hours; it doesn't apply to Hurricane Hole departures.

Is Six Fins in Key West?

Are the charters private?

Yes. Every boat charter is your group only, one to six guests on the Jeanneau. Seven or eight is possible on some non-fishing trips under a separate arrangement; ask Six Fins.

How long are the jet ski tours?

Guided tours run 90 minutes (a 26-mile backcountry ride to Boca Chica Sandbar, from $189 per ski) or 2 hours (the 28-mile loop around Key West, from $209). There is also a guide-supervised 1-hour freestyle ride from Hurricane Hole Marina (from $160). Each ski carries up to three riders within the weight limit.

Can we go fishing?

Yes. Private patch reef fishing runs 4, 6 or 8 hours, from $1,395 for the whole boat, up to six people.

What does a sunset cruise cost?

The private romantic sunset cruise is from $995 for the whole boat, three hours dock to dock.
